The Variolas B-Level course prepares students to operate and maintain the beam delivery
system. Students will be informed about the safety aspects at the beam delivery system, and all main sources of
hazards. Course content ranges from basic theory of optical functions to system operation and maintenance proce-
dures. Extensive hands-on laboratory time allows students to test their knowledge and develop skills to ensure that
they are capable of operating and maintaining the beam delivery system safely.
Topics: Function of all main modules like Attenuator, Homogenizer, Projection lens, Telescope, and Field lens; Safety aspects and sources of hazards; Operation of the system in different working modes and duty circles; Performance check. System maintenance procedures like Seal window exchange and optical beam path alignment.
Prerequisites: Complete product knowledge requires a basic understanding of electrical/electronic functions and
optical physics. Students should be able to read and speak English or the local language, depending on the training
center's location. Some basic knowledge of how to read technical schematics and/or block diagrams would be very
helpful.
