Excellent laser beam parameters, highest unit-to-unit consistency, hands-free operation plus superior reliability and lifetime make the Compass (COMpact All Solid State lasers) the recognized industry standard in the most demanding applications such as bioinstrumentation (e.g. genetic screening, cytometry, microscopy), medical diagnosis, pharmaceutics, cosmetics, environmental analysis including biohazard detection, semiconductor inspection, metrology, imaging, and reprographics printing. The available power range spans from 5 mW to 150 mW for 532 nm and 10 mW to 50 mW for 561 nm.

All Compass models utilize intra-cavity frequency-doubling to convert IR
to green respectively yellow laser light. This is realized with Coherents
unique, patented PermAlign technology: optical components are aligned
to optimum and then permanently fixed by soldering making the lasers optimally
aligned over their whole lifetime, insensitive to vibration and thermal
cycles.
The lasers are manufactured in controlled clean rooms and hermetically sealed
before being end-tested extensively.
Higher-Power Green and Yellow Models
A new 20 mW Compass 115M model completes the 115M line of green
CW lasers. These 532 nm lasers are ideally suited for cost-sensitive, yet
demanding OEM applications in bioinstrumentation, graphic arts, and inspection.
The 115M line offers excellent optical performance and the same reliability,
unit-to-unit consistency and long lifetime as higher power Compass
lasers. The line therefore offers the best available performance to price
ratio and lowest cost of ownership.
Our mid power-level Compass 215M model is the laser of choice for a wide variety of bioinstrumentation applications utilizing the 532 nm excitation wavelength. Compass 315M has the best optical properties commercially available. Consequently it is the industry standard in the printing and reprographics market, with more than five million device-hours in the field. Additional applications include flow cytometry, DNA analysis, as well as semiconductor inspection.
The Compass 561 is now available as a 50 mW Output Power model, specifically developed for applications such as microscopy and diagnostic imaging. This new model enables even faster processing times, better signal to noise and broader application coverage. It has the same form, fit and function as the field proven 10 mW, 20 mW, 25 mW and 40 mW models. The design incorporates the same intra-cavity frequency doubling platform, utilizing the Nd:YAG fundamental at 1122 nm for a final output at 561 nm, which has now been brought on a higher power level.
